No Games (Truth Serum)

I guess the self titled forum is appropriate even though the song's only on the Hate Everyone vinyl.

I don't feel like tabbing out the strumming patterns, but there's nothing special to the strumming so you'll figure it out easily enough anyway.

Code: Select all

Verse:
e|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|
G|-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-4-4-6-6--|
D|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4------------------|
A|-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|
E|-----------------2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|

Bridge:
e|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|
G|----------------------------------|
D|-----------------4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|
A|-----------------2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
E|-4-4-4-4-3-3-3-3-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0--|

Chorus:
e|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|
G|-4-4-4--3-3-3---------------------|
D|-4-4-4---------4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|
A|-2-2-2--4-4-4--2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
E|--------2-2-2--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0--|

Interlude:
e|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
G|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-6-8-6-4--|
D|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4----------|
A|-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-6-4-2--|

Do you have any idea what he sings during that one part towards the end of the song...because this is all I can get.

I know we're fine, where we are IHAVENOIDEAWHATHESAYSHERE
We're down, we're fine, I'm finding myself in your arms.

I've seen a couple different interpretations of what he sings there but I don't think they're right because they make absolutely no sense. They're usually like "where we are OR WHERE IF I WON'T" which I don't think fits at all. Maybe I'm just being stupid. I don't know.

EDIT: Also, played this. I don't like that chorus transition from 024xxx to x244xx. I THINK he plays 2244xx instead. It makes the chord sound a little stronger and eliminates that open E ringing. For the interlude, I think it's played a little differently. I thought I heard slight chord changes, and these are what I think I heard.

Code: Select all

Interlude:
e|-------------------|
B|-------------------|
G|-4--4--4-----------|
D|-4--4--4-----------|
A|-2--x--x-----------|
E|-0--4--2-----------|
I think he plays that, then goes back to the 244xxx before the little x4x6xx, x6x8xx, x4x6xx shindig. I like the sound of the 0244xx better if you actually use the chord changes. Makes the E-string note transition sound better.

Try that stuff and lemme know how it sounds to you. :D

Really nice job on this tab by the way, I've been wanting to play this. I officially love you.

Yeah I have no idea what he's saying there either. I guess we'll have to wait for some question time on twitter!

And I decided to listen to both guitars separately instead of together. As it turns out they're quite a bit different than I thought originally and I think that's what's throwing us off so much.

Verses seem to be played how we agree with both guitars. But I'm also thinking that the first chord x243xx might be something closer to 4243xx. I really can't tell, but it sounds like that 4 on E should be there. What do you think?

(Again, no strumming pattern is implied. Weird spacing is because of the 11s)

Code: Select all

Chorus:
Guitar I (Panned left 100%)
e|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|
G|-4-4-4--3-3-3-/11--11--11--11--11-|
D|-4-4-4----------------------------|
A|-2-2-2--4-4-4-/9---9---9---9---9--|
E|--------2-2-2--0---0---0---0---0--|

Guitar II (Panned right 100%)
e|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|
G|-4-4-4--6-6-6---------------------|
D|-4-4-4--4-4-4--4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--|
A|-2-2-2--4-4-4--2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--|
E|---------------0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0--|

Interlude:
Guitar I (Panned left 100%)
e|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
G|-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-11-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-|-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-11-6-6-6-6-6/8\6\4-|
D|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
A|-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-9--6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-|-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-9--4-4-4-4-4/6\4\2-|
E|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|

Guitar II (Panned right 100%)
e|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------|----------------------------------|
G|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4--6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-|

Haha, I didn't even realize there were 2 guitars but that explains a lot of what I was hearing now. Separately, they sound pretty good. Was trying to figure out a way to set it up so I could just listen to one side at a time but I'm bad at that sort of thing.

And I think I agree about the first x243xxx being 4243xx. That sounds meatier. Plus, when you listen to it, it sounds almost exactly like the chord from Eloise.

I was just listening to the beginning again. That last verse chord is different, but I don't know what it is. 4243xx, 24x3xx, 24x4xx, and then you can hear something else slide up where you have 24x6xx, but I 'm not sure what it is. It might be the entire chord, but I don't have my guitar out right now and I just woke up, so I'm being too lazy to go get it lol.

Also, that 2nd guitar sounds like it's playing 4x44xx, 2x44xx, 0244xx to me during the last chorus, at least. I could be wrong since all I did was pull my left headphone away from me, heh.

Yeah it does sound different on the last chorus. I was going to try to figure it out before but I really didn't feel like it.

As much as I like trying to figure out exactly what is played, in the end it won't help much with playing the song by yourself because you'll literally only be able to play half of the song... left or right. I think for playing the song I'm going to end up just using the chords we talked about before looking at left+right.

By the way, whatever you're using to play your mp3s should have a balance slider somewhere. I know Winamp's is in the equalizer. If you can't find it for your player you can always use the balance slider in your Windows Volume Control Options. Easiest way to listen to differently panned guitars.

Yeah, I think the best way to play it solo would just be to play the dominant parts that you hear when you listen to it. :P

And yeah, I was looking for the equalizer for like 3 secs and was just like "meh" and pulled my headphones away. It was basically the same thing.

Someone on youtube said it's

"I know were fine, where we are, our wherewithal wont wear down, were fine, im finding myself in your arms"

and they said,

wherewithal means the necessary means to survive.. so in conext it would mean
"He knows his necessary means to survive (which is his love, their love and whatnot)
wont wear down or fade".. their fine, especally when he finds himself in her arms...

I don't know how the hell they caught that word, but i think they're right.

Yeah that's definitely what he's saying. I guess if you had heard the term "wherewithal" before, it would have been easier to figure out. First I've heard of it but that's not really surprising. Thanks for the info. ;]

Personally, I think the, "im finding myself in your arms" actually, "I'm fine; den myself in your arms" saying to like snuggle up. Partially because of the space when he says it, partially because I like the sound of it a lot, and it sounds more Max-ish :P
