She Won't Follow You

I thought I was alone in my utter disgust
Till the old me started to bleed, and we became us
Lust and mistrust and their social halitosis
Combust to form stardust, burning nuclear gust
Who sets presidents up to farm oil?
It's those pigs whose tails curl out to pointed coil
If you wanna know more than mark 'yes' at the end of your test
In repsonse to your call of distress - we're the best!

(Meet me in the back room)
I'll tell you everything, you everything, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
Just run away with me, just lay with me, whoa

They say rebellion exists in despair and their ironic facial hair
The Devil may, or may not care
I saw the look she gave to Mr. Cred
She said, 'Don't let that blow go to your head.'
She took my hand instead
There's nothing like the brain of a beautiful girl
Where they grasp the fallacy of the world
We're in the back room, back to back
Breathing hard, reading the file on the heart they sought to defile

(Meet me in the back room)
I'll tell you everything, you everything, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
Just run away with me, just lay with me, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
I'll tell you everything, you everything, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
Just run away with me, just lay with me, whoa
Alright

(Meet me in the back room)
I'll tell you everything, you everything, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
Just run away with me, just lay with me, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
I'll tell you everything, you everything, whoa
(Meet me in the back room)
Just run away with me, just lay with me, whoa

She won't follow you, she won't follow you, you won't follow
She won't follow you, she won't follow you, she won't follow

I just had this ephiany. When he is saying "He won't follow you" Its not to the Max. Basically I see it as you have this nice girl, follows the rules and what not. And then a guy comes along and gets into her head and tells her all this conspiracy and anti-government and anti-establishment stuff. And turns her away from all the things she used to believe. And he is saying she wont follow your mainstream and your rules and your lies anymore.

Bingo. She was very complacent and then he comes along and shatters her illusions. The song is addressed to "The Man," including braindead hipsters, which brings me to my favorite line: "Say rebellion exists in despair and their ironic facial hair/The devil may or may not care." He's criticizing the way hipsters use boredom, indifference, and a general aura of being unimpressed as a power tool, same way he does in lines like "Go choke on your irony." A devil-may-care attitude, that is, a punk attitude, is more appropriate, he thinks.
Love, it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you.
It will set you free. Be more like the man you were made to be.
There is a design, an alignment, a cry of my heart to see
the beauty of love as it was meant to be.

i love the secret origins version so hard. my favorite line is "nothing like the brain of a beautiful girl when she grasps the fallacy of the world!" it means a lot to me beacuse it reminds me of how unattractive an empty girl is. that's just me
