Someone posts a poem or a song that's not normally an acoustic song. They can include a basic tab or a chord chart or a "lead sheet" type of thing for guidance. Then each person can post their own version of the song and we can see all the ideas we come up with.
For example, record a song based off the following poem, choose whatever you want for a verse, bridge and chorus, but use the chords given.
Example
Code: Select all
A Girl by Ezra Pound
The tree has entered my hands,
The sap has ascended my arms,
The tree has grown in my breast-
Downward,
The branches grow out of me, like arms.
Tree you are,
Moss you are,
You are violets with wind above them.
A child - so high - you are,
And all this is folly to the world.
Verse - Use only G C and D chords. (in any order)
Bridge / Prechorus - Em, G (in order)
Chorus - Any chords in the key of G.
You can post a tab of a riff you made, and just put it up and have people play it without ever hearing it and without any notes (or with) about how to play it, and see what people come up with from your riff playing the same thing, but how different it may be.
You could even mash up songs together and play them and then see how other people may mash up the same songs. For example singing "Alive with the Glory of Love" overtop of "Baby Girl" by just using the words to Alive but the melodies to Baby Girl.
Feel free to even just post you doing a melody and the chords and asking others to do their own versions and improvise and embellish the melody/part.
Finally the coolest part is when we write songs together in this forum. That is what I hope this eventually evolves to.
I really would love you guys to take control of this and be creative. You have done a great job with tabbing Say Anything, and I think we should move in new directions in our musical endeavors as a community.
