Hey people!
I'm new to this forum. First question I have to you people out there is how the guy on base gets that fuzzy base sound in the chorus of this song ("Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat").
Anyone that has any thoughts?

Bass sound in "Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat"
Re: Bass sound in "Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat"
Well he uses a distortion pedal. I'm not sure which one, but the biggest bass distortion pedal is the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. The bassist from Ben Folds Five used that pedal and I think it sounds similar to the distortion on YCRC. Anyone have any ideas which Alex uses live? That's probably the one max used on the recording.
Self-inflicted or not, I find myself on the farthest star, foreign to everything like I woke up with a German tongue.

I've been dying to answer. I saw them live the other day, and I confirmed it. It is the Big Muff, I'm not sure he has it cranked all the way, but they also play out of an Orange for a real great tone/sound.

I have one. It is indeed huge. And hard to handle! They mean DISTORTION.
They even make a bass version, http://www.ehx.com/products/bass-big-muff-pi
