I always thought it was because Max liked Baseball.. I could be wrong. (Moved the thread here, seemed more appropriate).
Self-inflicted or not, I find myself on the farthest star, foreign to everything like I woke up with a German tongue.

I think it's like in the song "Baseball But Better" where America's favorite passtime = Max's favorite passtime, i.e. chasing girls.
The cover is a bunch of bridesmaids, you do the math.
Love, it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you.
It will set you free. Be more like the man you were made to be.
There is a design, an alignment, a cry of my heart to see
the beauty of love as it was meant to be.

I always thought the album was about his secret ambition of playing for the LA baseball team

He recently tweeted that he wants to be in the Wu Tang Clan. Looks like he moved on lol

I guess I just didn't think about that cause he's married, I guess the CD would have been before that though

Well Max writes a lot of sexual and relationship related lyrics. And different steps of a relationship, i.e. kissing, petting, all the way, etc. are often referred to as "rounding bases." 1st base - kissing, 2nd base - petting, 3rd base - oral, 4th base - all the way. As well as striking out - getting rejected, etc etc blah blah. Thats why it's called baseball.
